How to customize TestFlight alerts on iOS

If you’ve ever beta-tested an iOS app through Apple’s TestFlight app, you’ve undoubtedly received an email and a push alert on your iOS device(s) with each new release.

The alerts are a convenient way to know when it’s time to update to the latest build, not to mention the email version includes a change log letting you know what to expect. Alternatively, you can view the change log within the TestFlight app.

With that said, receiving two notifications — one email, one push alert — for every update can get quite annoying. And that’s assuming you only have one iOS device; the number of push alerts only goes up as you begin testing on more devices.

Thankfully, you can control what kind of alert you receive for each app you are testing. The setting is a bit hidden, but this is what you’ll need to do:

  • Open TestFlight on your iOS device.
  • Tap on the app you’d like to edit notifications.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page, then tap on Notifications.

A series of options will be present, allowing you to customize the exact alert type you’d like to receive. If you change your mind down the road, you can just as easily revisit this page and alter your settings.

Alternatively, if you no longer wish to continue testing an app you can select the red Stop Testing button and remove yourself from the list.
